The Policy & Resources Committee is the senior committee of the States. It concentrates on leadership and co-ordination of the work of the States, fiscal policy, and representing the island in external relations. Most policy-making, regulatory and public service functions are delegated to one of seven principal committees. They focus on developing policy, advising the States on policy, reviewing performance and budgets, and delivering public services.

Responsible for schemes of social protection relating to pensions, other benefits, social housing, employment, and labour market legislation.
Responsible for protecting and enhancing the natural and physical environment and infrastructure.
Responsible for protecting, promoting and improving the health and well-being of individuals and the community.
Responsible for maintaining and promoting a safe, stable and equitable society which values public protection and justice.
Responsible for ensuring all people living in Guernsey will have access to housing that is affordable, secure, energy efficient and adequate.
